LIP BLUSH
AFTERCARE
Follow these instructions for lip blush aftercare. Depending on your procedure and your skin type, the healing period can last around 4-6 weeks.
Rule #1: If you are prone to cold sores (or have ever had a cold sore) we recommend talking to your Doctor to acquire a prescription antiviral to be taken before and during the healing process. (Even to have it on hand in case you start to feel an outbreak during healing.) Permanent makeup on the lip area can possibly trigger a localized break out of the Herpes Virus if it is dormant in the body already.
Do not touch or scratch your lips or pick at the scabs!
Do not get your lips wet while they’re healing. Avoid long, hot showers and do not let water touch your lips. No swimming or saunas.
Do not apply makeup or any cosmetics to the lips or anywhere near the lip area.
Do not receive any other facial treatments until your lips are completely healed.
Avoid going in the sun until your lips are completely healed.
Avoid sweating, working out, or any exercise that will cause you to sweat until your lips are completely healed.
Avoid sleeping on your face. Ensure your pillowcases are fresh and clean during your healing process.
Protect your lips from any dirt or dust.
Do not drink alcohol, eat spicy or salty foods, or drink anything that is too hot! This can sting, trigger swelling, and dry your lips out.
Avoid getting toothpaste on your lips.
Day 1: Wipe your lips every two hours with cotton rounds and warm water.
Day 2: Wipe the lips and gently pat dry after eating/drinking. Use a straw for all beverages. Moisturize the lips consistently with Vaseline and reapply after wiping.
First Week: No sweating/gym. Avoid hot tubs, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, public pools and lakes and submerging your face in water.
First 2 weeks: Avoid wearing any makeup on the lips.
First 3 weeks: Avoid hot direct sun.
What to Expect/ What is normal:
Days 1-5: You may experience temporary swelling for the first 24 hours. We recommend icing the area intermittently but do not soak the lips. Your lips will chap as the scabs start naturally shedding.
Days 5-9: As the scabs start coming off, they may appear patchy. A tight or itchy feeling is normal.
Day 9-12: The pigment under may look light or milky due to a thin layer of skin. This is completely normal.
Days 12-21: The pigment will “come back” once the thin layer of scar tissue heals and you will see the final result.
Absolutely NO PICKING or SCRATCHING your scabs!
